Weight loss is probably the most challenging health goal for most Americans. The essential key to achieving optimal weight is to obtain optimal health. Here's the reason. Weight gain is really only a symptom of an unhealthy body. Being overweight is often the result of problems with the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, digestive system and kidneys. Usually the deficiencies to these organs or glands are sub-clinical, meaning that they won't register as problems with clinical or lab testing. In order to lose weight permanently and effectively, the body must be restored to health. There are five basic components to our weight loss plan:

2.    Water:

It is vital that you drink plenty of filtered water every day. Begin with 8 glasses plus one glass for every 25 pounds you are overweight. A liver that is stressed is not able to metabolize fat as well, resulting in more fat being stored in the body stopping weight loss. Begin each day by drinking a full glass of water. Drinking herbal tea can also count toward your water intake. No soda pop, coffee, alcohol or tea with caffeine should be consumed.


3.    Exercise:


Moderate exercise is the best way to increase your metabolism. More importantly, by exercising you can reset your fat thermostat. There is an internal "set point" that is built into our body which determines the amount of fat your body maintains. If you lose weight without resetting your body's fat thermostat, your body (via hunger) will drive you to rebound back to your "set point". By engaging in exercise on a regular basis, your "set point" can be lowered. (It's got to be part of your new life-style, a couple of weeks or months won't do it). We recommend working up to a brisk 30 - 40 minute walk 3 to 5 times per week. Your exercise must be continuous, uninterrupted and weight bearing (no swimming). It will take about 3 weeks for your body's metabolism to increase as a result of exercise. The benefits of exercise are too many to enumerate here, nevertheless, moderate aerobic exercise is vital to a healthy life-styles. Try walking before breakfast or before dinner to burn off fat and reduce your appetite.

4.    Digestion & Elimination:

5.    Diet and Nutrition:


Do not worry so much about the number of calories you consume. Pay more attention to eating healthy, wholesome and nutritious foods. Focus on changing your eating habits by experimenting with new recipes. Do not go hungry. Skipping meals and going hungry will only put your body in a starvation/survival mode causing your body to conserve energy and hang on to fat. If you are hungry, eat healthy foods. Do Not Overeat. Put less food on your plate. Chew your food until it is the consistency of apple sauce. Try setting your fork down between bites to develop the habit of eating slower. Strive for 18 good healthy meals per week. That means 3 meals per week are not optimal. Skipping or missing a meal counts as one of our bad meals for the week. Do not chew gum. Chewing gum starts the digestive juices flowing and makes you feel hungry.
